向日葵と花々

領域: 深いレリーフ

深いレリーフで仕上げた花々。向日葵、ダリア、そして満ちた花冠を、花弁の背後に光が抜けるまでえぐり起こします。ただ一つのシナノキ材の木塊が、どこまで及ぶかを問う、一つの探究です。

工房にて

型もなければ、近道もありません。シナノキ材とオーク材を、木目そのものが装飾となるまで彫り進めます。バロックのレリーフが求めるのは、まさにこの遅さなのです。

歴史の探究としての仕事

すべてのご依頼は、単なる注文ではなく、一つの研究として始まります。最初のひと彫りの前に、作品を読み解く仕事があります。意匠をその時代と巨匠たちまでたどり、それを最初に彫った巨匠がいかに考え、いかに形を起こしたかを汲み取り、失われゆく技を新たな作品へと運ぶのです。彫師たちが幾世紀ものあいだ受け継いできたとおりに。

この工房の木彫が唯一無二であるのは、そのためです。歴史的様式の解釈であって、型から起こした複製ではありません。木目、葉のひと筋、えぐりの深さに、探究の跡が刻まれ、同じものは二つとありません。工房は量産品をお売りするのではありません。一生をかけた知識と図案、技に支えられた、完成した作品をお届けします。そして一つひとつの作品が、幾世紀もの古き技を、忘却から少しずつ救い出すのです。
