創作之道

以創作為歷史研習

每一件委託都始於一項研究,而非一紙訂單。在落鑿之前,工作是研習這件作品:將一個紋樣追溯至它的時代與大師,體會最初雕出它的那雙手如何思考、如何執行,再將瀕於失傳的技藝帶入一件全新之作。

正因如此,出自這間工作室的木雕都是獨一無二的:它是對某種歷史風格的詮釋,而絕非依模板複製的摹本。木材的紋理、葉片的走向、底切的深淺,都留有研習的印記,沒有兩件會全然相同。這間工作室不出售批次製品,而是交付一件成品,一件以畢生學識、設計與技藝成就的作品。每一件作品,也都為一門歷經數百年的技藝,留住了不致湮沒的一隅。
